Dr. Berkheez Shabir

Dr. Berkheez Shabir is an accomplished obstetrician and gynecologist with an academic and professional journey spanning India, Bangladesh and the Maldives. A meritorious scholar from the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education, she secured top state positions in both matriculation and higher secondary examinations, earning merit scholarships on each occasion.

Her academic distinction led to her selection in the SAARC Exchange Program by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. Through this scholarship, she pursued MBBS at Government Medical College Barisal and completed internship training at its affiliated 1200-bedded superspeciality teaching hospital, one of the largest medical college campuses in Southeast Asia.

After returning to Srinagar, she completed house residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Lal Ded Hospital, where her long-standing interest in women's health and reproductive medicine developed further. She subsequently served as a Medical Officer in the Department of Surgery at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital under the Ministry of Urban Affairs, Republic of Maldives, while continuing to pursue higher academic goals.

Dr. Berkheez later earned another prestigious scholarship to undertake MS through the International Residency Program in Obstetrics, Gynecology and Infertility at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, one of South Asia's foremost postgraduate medical institutions known for tertiary and superspeciality care.

Committed to continual professional advancement, she completed fellowship training in Obstetrics and Gynecology in collaboration with Apollo Hospitals, along with certified training in surgical skills, Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support at government institutions.

Over the years, she has served across reputed healthcare institutions including IGMH Maldives, Government Medical College Doda, Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital, Dhidhoo Atoll Hospital and Kawoosa Hospital. She is presently associated as an Infertility Expert at Bachan IVF Centre, Lal Chowk Srinagar, and also serves as Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Medicare Superspeciality Hospital, where she performs surgical cases and attends OPDs.

Alongside her clinical work, Dr. Berkheez maintains an active academic profile with nearly 17 national and international scientific publications, including original research articles, case reports and case series. Her career reflects scholarship, surgical expertise and a deep commitment to women's healthcare.
