Dr. Zahoor Hussain Daraz distinguished himself academically from an early stage, completing his schooling under the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education with exceptional merit. He secured 44th position in the state during matriculation and 24th position during higher secondary examinations, achievements that earned him merit-based scholarships on both occasions.
His academic excellence led to his recommendation by the Ministry of External Affairs under the prestigious SAARC Exchange Program, through which he was awarded a scholarship to pursue MBBS at Government Medical College Barisal. He completed his internship at its affiliated 1200-bedded superspeciality teaching hospital, recognized among the largest and busiest medical college campuses in Southeast Asia.
Upon returning to Srinagar, Dr. Zahoor joined Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences for house residency training in Neonatology and Pediatrics, where his clinical acumen and passion for pediatric medicine developed under the mentorship of eminent academicians and senior clinicians. He subsequently served as a Medical Officer under the Ministry of Health while simultaneously preparing for postgraduate specialization.
Driven by an unwavering pursuit of excellence, he once again secured an international scholarship to pursue MD Pediatrics at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, the premier postgraduate medical university of Bangladesh, known for its advanced tertiary care infrastructure, superspeciality services and rigorous academic environment.
Further strengthening his academic portfolio, Dr. Zahoor successfully completed the Sydney Child Health Program through The University of Sydney in collaboration with Apollo Hospitals, earning distinction for his performance. He has also completed certified trainings in Basic and Advanced Life Support, a Masterclass in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Apollo Hospitals Hyderabad, and advanced academic coursework in Pediatric Nutrition affiliated with Boston University.
Over the years, Dr. Zahoor has served across reputed institutions including Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, Government Medical College Doda, Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital, Dhidhoo Atoll Hospital, Kawoosa Hospital, and Medicare Super Speciality Hospital.
